Policy Statement

It is my policy to ensure that children are in a smoke-free environment whilst in my care.

In accordance with the National Standards produced by the Department for Education and Skills I have a no smoking policy in my home.

Procedure

No one is permitted to smoke in my home

I will not take the children into smoky environments and will avoid places that permit smoking wherever possible

I will ensure that no-one smokes in a room when the children in my care are present or about to be present

I will divert children away from smokers in outdoor areas, e.g. cross to the other side of the road if we are walking behind a smoker
