CONFIDENTIALITY

Policy Statement

All parents/carers will receive a copy of all of my policies and procedures. These policies are also displayed on my website www.bananabunchchildcare.co.uk.

I am aware of my responsibilities under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I will follow extremely strict guidelines to ensure that any information I am entrusted with will remain under my supervision and only be shared with a third party when absolutely necessary (please see my Safeguarding Children policy).

Procedure

All written records will be kept securely locked away. Documents will be kept in accordance with the recommended retention period guidelines. All parents will be asked to complete permission forms for use of photos on both my website and the Tinybeans daily diary page (please refer to my 'About' section on my website).

I will be carrying my mobile phone with me when we are on outings to keep emergency contact details for the children. I would like to take pictures of the children whilst we are out as well as at home, with their friends and myself. These will be shared on a weekly basis on Tinybeans, which each parent will have a secure password to access.

I will maintain a record of parent/carer emergency contact details, contact details of the child's GP and any other relevant contact details you may require me to keep. If a child is identified as a child in need (section 17 of the children act 1989) I will, normally with the parents permission, give appropriate information to referring agencies. I expect parents to inform me of any changes in the child’s home circumstances, care arrangements and who will be picking up or dropping of your child/children or any other change which may affect the child’s behaviour such as a new baby, parent’s separation, divorce or bereavement.

I would like to ask parents and children to keep private any confidential or sensitive information they may learn about my family, setting or the other children and families attending, unless it is a child protection issue. Ofsted may require to see my records at any time. Parents have the right to inspect all records about their child at any time.
